Masks in 2022-2023: Optional for All Individuals

Students, staff and visitors in RTSD schools/buildings are permitted to choose their own masking status.

Covid-19 Messaging History

All students, staff and visitors can determine their own masking status beginning Feb. 24 after an unanimous Board vote approving changes to the Radnor Health and Safety Plan on Feb. 22.

Administration is recommending a change to Radnor's Health and Safety Plan to remove the mask requirement when positive case counts are less than 2.5% of a school or building's total student and staff population.

An update was provided at the 1/25 Board meeting on the district's refinement of Covid-19 mitigation strategies. Masks will continue to be required at this time and potential adjustments to our Health and Safety Plan will be considered at the 2/22 meeting.

Superintendent Batchelor thanks the community for its collective work as we return to school from break; shares new guidance from CHOP that the district will follow; and confirms results of at-home Covid rapid tests will now be accepted by RTSD.

As another layer of Covid-19 protection, RTSD will begin a pool testing program starting with all RTSD 5th-graders on January 3, 2022.

A "Test-to-Stay" program has been introduced; first-dose vaccine clinics for 5 to 11 are completed; and boosters were administered to interested staff.

Negative Covid test results must be verified by medical professional or lab to be accepted by schools for student admission.

Children properly masked and distanced three feet or more from the positive case are not considered close contacts and do not need to quarantine.

With masking requirements in place, gaiters are not permitted as a face covering option for students or staff.

The state announced that masks will be mandated in all K-12 schools in the state, public and private, effective September 7.

RTSD will begin the school year by requiring masks for all students, staff, and visitors indoors, effective August 16, 2021.

An expanded partnership with Springfield Pharmacy allows for the availability of the Pfizer vaccine at RHS for 12-15 year-olds on May 17 and June 7.

A notable adjustment involves the district and schools now reserving the right to require students to submit to Covid-19 testing to participate in athletics, events, and activities.

We are pleased to announce RHS and RMS will join our elementary schools and begin transitioning from Hybrid to Full In-Person learning beginning Mon., March 15.

Recent CCHD guidance supports our plans to move forward to Phase 1: Full Day In-Person Learning, beginning at the elementary level on Feb. 25.

We are ready to move our elementary program from Hybrid to Full Day In-Person beginning Thurs., Feb. 25 for grades K-2, and Mon., March 1 for grades 3-5.  

Beginning Monday, February 8, Radnor Township School District will no longer permit gaiter-style masks as acceptable face coverings

Students in grades K, 1, 2, 6, 9 and 12 participating in the district’s modified in-person learning program will be the first to return to Radnor schools on Tuesday, September 29

All RTSD families will have the option of sending their children back to school in-person on a modified schedule to begin the 2020-21 school year. A completely cyber option is also available.
